Tres Belle Spa: 3 Winter Skin Tips from Top NYC Facialist Paula Genna February 20 2014

Top NYC Facialist and Medical Esthetician Paula Genna has been treating NYC winter skin for over 18 years. She has soothed the faces of  Heidi Klum, Vanessa Williams, and Anna Wintour, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. With the never ending "snowpocalypse" of winter 2014 she is here to save your winter skin with 3 great tips.

1. Turn Your Home Into A Tropical Paradise
Winter cold air makes it harder for skin to hold onto hydration. The dry heat in our NYC homes zaps all of the moisture out off of our skin. Replacing the moisture with a cool air humidifier will not only improve your health, but your skin condition as well. Remember to clean your humidifier every night.

2. Stop Using Soap
Many traditional soaps contain harsh ingredients that may irritate sensitive winter skin. The more they lather, the more they dry. Try a creamy cleanser on a dry face and gently massage, rinse with COOL water. While it might be tempting to turn up the heat on a cold night, hot water on skin disturbs it's protective top layer and will likely lead to dryness.

3. Drink Every Night
NYC moves fast. When you are on the go it's easy to forget to re-hydrate. Every stop at the end of the day and think "I haven't even had a glass of water today", yes, me too. Make it a ritual to snuggle up with a cup of lemon water or tea in the evening when you get home. Keeping a pretty carafe of water right in front of you as you "surf the net" will certainly give you easy access and no excuses. Drink up.

These Winter Skin Tips are 3 that I find are often forgotten. If you still find that your skin needs more attention, come see me at Tres Belle Spa for a professional hydrating facial. It would be my pleasure!
