How To Wash Your Face
Friends,
The skincare and self-care industry has taken off like a rocket! It’s no surprise that I get the very common question, “how do I wash my face?” quite often. Right now, as we deal with summer heat and “maskne”, here are best practices for clean skin.
How To Clean Your Face:
Cleansing your face properly will improve the efficacy of your product and help create glowing skin.
DO: Double cleanse if you are wearing cosmetics or sunscreen.
.* Apply cleanser to entire face without massaging in. Remove with cold water, preferably a cotton pad that’s been run under cold water.
DO NOT: Skip removing make-up or sunscreen, you are essentially pushing debris into your skin.
DO: Use upward motions to apply cleanser.
* You want your skin to stay up, train it. Run hands over face and forehead in long upward strokes, starting at the bottom of the neck or decollete.
DO NOT: Move hands up and down and round and round. The skin is delicate and such movements do not support a gentle touch.
DO: Use cool to cold water to rinse.
* Cold water soothes, and creates a glow to the skin.
DO NOT: Use hot water. It strips away the good oils in your skin and may cause inflammation.
DO: Exfoliate with a baking soda and water paste, very gently, once a week.
* baking soda brightens, shrinks pores, and helps to kill infection under the skin.
DO NOT: Use apricot scrub, the uneven shape of the grains can puncture the skin and cause breakouts.
These are general rules of thumb, but listen to your skincare professional and read your instructions.
